Back to About SoccerMany are curious about the future of US soccer. That seems normal as many US soccer
players dream of playing in the
MLS[major league soccer]. Also to play in other countries you would have to be incredibly good since the US is pretty far behind some leagues such as the
premier league. Well, to tell the truth as it is it is not very easy to make a living of of the
MLS alone. Few make over a million and most make around 30,000 dollars. I recently talked to an
MLS player and he said that he made more money playing minor league soccer then in the
MLS. Many
players make so few money they must share an apartment. However, if you are a great player you can make a pretty good living of of it but probably not your dream money. Also, you will probably have to work a job or two to get by after retiring which in pro sports many have to do at a young age. Sadley, most people that make the big bucks in the
MLS are
players from other countries such as Blanco or David Beckham. However, the
MLS is a great place to make a good living at a young age and have an exiting career. The
MLS also will countinue to imnprove and since soccer, expecially youth soccer is countinuing to get bigger there will be more fans which means more money. Also the skill level of US soccer counitnues to improve as we saw as at the time of this writing the US under 17 team won against Brazil 1-0. Also, youth soccer seems to be improving because many coaches from other countries are coming in. Overall, the
MLS and US soccer overall seems to be improving at a rapid rate. I wouldn't be surprised if soccer one day, though not soon, became the number 1 US sport!
