Goalie GuideThis is a featured page

This is all about you goalies out there! This is for you! Or maybe you are a decent player, but you think you would do better in goalie. You've come to the right place! You will learn about what to do as a goalie:

Taking a dive

When you take a dive, it's usaully at moments when you just feel it's right, and you are willing to sacrafice that for your team. It's hard to tell you about, because they are just spur the moment things, but I will do my best. When taking a dive, take a step at a forty-five digree angle. Push off with your power leg and then move your hands and legs togther as you shoot for the ball. When you catch the ball you want to have your hands out infront of your head and your hands on the ball in a "W". Don't be afraid! Make sure that the ball brakes your fall. That means that you push the ball down into the ground as you land so it takes the shock. Also diving into the goal post can be avoided by stepping out of the goal a little bit to make sure that dosen't happen.

Equipment

For goalie equipment, you just wear the same equipment, but it's a teeny bit different. Goalies usaully wear a tighter shirt that's easier to move around in they also are long sleves. Goalies also have to wear a completely different colered shirt then the rest of their teams so everyone can tell the goalies from the rest of the team. They also have goalie gloves. These are padded gloves and the padding will rip after getting some use. Don't be afraid to go at any ball no matter what speed with these gloves.

Is Goalie for you?
You may be asking yourself right now, "Would I be a good goalie" My answer is maybe, maybe not. Answer these questions for more.
1. Are you afraid if a soccer ball comes at you?
2. Do you mind if you have a little pain, or a bruise once in a while?
3.Are you afraid to get your body in the way of the ball?

If you answered Yes to all of those questions above, your better off being a midfielder, defender, or forward. If you answered No to all of those questions, you would make a fine fine goalie! If you answered No to all the questions, ask your soccer coach to try out goalie someday! You could be a legend!

Please be patient. I will do a couple paragraphs a day. I'm trying to make this page good so there will be more added!

i am a goalie, and let me tell you, one of the best feelings on the feild is when the ball hits your gut after a save, time seems to slow, then you get it back out there and it speeds up again
