Forward GuideThis is a featured page

Here you can learn what it takes to be a forward, what they do, and how to do it.

What is a Forward?

A forward is is the person at the top of the field, the main goal scorer.

Should i become a Forward?

If you like to score a lot of goals forward is a good position because usually they score the most goals. Forwards are very fast so they can run onto long balls. They also are strong so they can barrel through the very crowded middle of the box. They usually are good at volleys and headers too so the other forward can cross it to them on fast breaks. However, you do not need to be all of these things. The most important are your shot and speed. To take me for example i am small and fast and currently, though i move around a lot, i start at forward. Forwards range from a lot of different things. However, every good forward has one thing in common, aggressiveness. Every forward must be aggressive to be successful whether it is pressuring defenders or bowling over two guys and scoring. So if you think you should be a forward answer these questions:

Do i like to score?

Do i have a good shot?

Am i aggressive?

Am i fast?

Am i strong?

Can i handle getting fouled over and over?

Can i pressure the ball well?

Am i good at making space with moves?

Am i good at volleys/headers

If you answered Yes to the majority of these questions then you could be a forward. If not please check out the other position guides

What forwards Do

Here is what forwards do for the most parts for 6 v 6 to 11 v 11

6V 6- Usually there are three forwards. The forwards usually get it based up by the defenders and use each other to get a cross in.

8 V 8- The forwards usually stay up and don't get back on defence often expert for corner kicks. They usually get played with a through ball and do one twos with each other if there are two forwards.

11 V 11- Forwards almost never get back even on corner kicks. Forwards are played through but not as often as 8 V 8 the forwards usually make passes with stoppers/center mids. If they have space they turn and shoot and if not they do one twos/overlaps etc to get open or drop it to a center mid/stopper to shoot.

What forwards do vary on coaches ask your coach for more help.
