First Touch

Your first touch is, believe it or not, very important! It separates good players from great! If your first touch is bad, then the whole play is thrown off. So here is the First Touch guide.

Starting


To get a good first touch you need to practice a lot! But first it is important to know what to do and what exactly you are doing. Getting a good touch means that whether the ball is in the air coming towards you, bouncing, or on the ground you can make a nice touch the exact way you want to go or settle the ball.

Practicing your Ground Touch


Here are some tips on how to get a good first touch on the ground.

To practice just hit the ball against a wall, your garage or anything else. Also if you can get some one to pass it to you.

While practicing jog in place. This gets you a better touch.

I reccomend using these ones to get a first touch:

Inside- Hit the ball with the inside of your foot.

Outside- Hit the ball with the outside of your foot.

Crofe- Do a crofe to get it under control. To learn how to do a crofe go to Soccer Moves Guide.

Practicing your Arial Touch


Here are some tips to get you better at your ariel touch.

To practice kick it up in the air or bring it down. You can also kick it off of something and bring it down. If you have someone to practice with have them throw it to you and you bring it down.

I reccomend using these to bring the ball down:

Inside- Hit the ball with the inside of your foot to fake out a deffender while bringing it down. Make sure you don't hit it too far.

Outside- Hit the ball with the outside of your foot to fake out a deffender while bring it down. Make sure you don't hit it to far.

Pillow- This is for advanced only. Hold the ball on your foot to bring it down. For me it helped if i emagined that it was like a feather. It works because i can do it with weights. Don't try that at home.

Stomp- I don't prefer to use this one in risk of triping over the ball but you can do what you want. Stomp the ball right before it hits the ground.

Practising Your Bouncing Touch


Here are some tips for practising your bouncing touch.

To practice throw the ball in the air and let it bouce and settle it. Or have someone else do it which really makes no difference.
