Finishing - The Complete Soccer Guide

Shooting

To start make put your foot that you are going to shot with flat on the ground. Next point your non-kicking foot in the direction you are going to shoot. Now try to shoot it with your laces at the area around your big toe. Keep striking the ball in different ways to see how the ball reacts.

On shooting the ball up close such as on a breakaway hit it with the inside of your foot to place it in the corner.

Make sure you are leaning back if you want to lob the keeper or hit it really high, but for 95 percent of the time lean forward and you will get a nice low line drive.

Never aim at the middle of the goal.

Remember shots low to the ground are usually better cause the keepers have to dive.

Try to get your foot far back, and the most important thing follow through.

Some people like to shoot, then follow through with both feet.

The Straight Kick

Straight kicks are every low and accurate, so they are a must for a strikers arsenal. To hit a straight kick lock you ankle and hit the ball with your laces. Make sure you kick the ball not the ground or you will stub your toe.

The Soccer Hop

On every shot it is vital that you use the soccer hop. To perform the soccer hop simply put the foot you are not striking the ball with beside the ball in a somewhat hoping motion and load and strike.

The V-Swing

On every type of shot you most use the v-swing. To do it lift your leg backwards. To see if you want to see if you are using it or not. Have someone watch you as you are taking a shot. If your leg makes a v then you are good. If not try to bring your leg back farther. Remember to follow through!

Following Through

When you shoot you need to follow through almost in a stepping motion. Try to land on your shooting foot! After you follow through get in the habit of running so you might be able to get a rebound.

Looking to Shoot

Don't be afraid to shoot. Although you don't want to shoot selfishly try to shot a lot if you get the ball at a central position in or near the box. Some people get scared and don't shot when there are many people crowding the box. Shooting is really the only thing you can do in this situation besides playing it to the wings. Look for openings and don't hesitate as they can disappear in seconds. Sometimes you just have to shoot right into the mass hoping that it bounces off someone or some how gets through. When the ball hits off of someone it surprisingly goes into the goal a lot. Also if the ball does get through then it will be hard to block because of all the people blocking his view. Don't be afraid to try chip shots from far out if you catch the goalie wandering.

Bending

To bend the ball kick the side of the ball. Kind of move your leg in a circular motion.

It will take some practice, but soon you will get it, it really isn't hard once you learn the sweet spot. Also note that you can bend it with the outside and inside of your foot and that it bends more when you kick it in the air.

Chipping

To chip the ball lock your foot don and try to get under the ball and lean back. This will make the ball go high and have backspin which is refereed to as a chip ball.

Volleys

hit the ball with the inside of your foot in the air.

Practice these a lot because when you get older you will use them a lot.

PKs

PKs are penalty kicks in the box when someone on your team gets fouled in your opponents box or the game is ended with a penalty shootout. When the ball is placed you will notice that it is very close to the goal. You need to score on this opportunity. Pks are really very basic. All you really need to do especially at a younger age is to place a line drive near the corner of the net. If it is a hard driven shot then it will almost be impossible to save. You wold be surprised at how many people even pros kick it over the goal or miss it right or left. Many people get nervous with PK. The best thing to do is just practice and see how easy it is then in a game you won't feel as nervous. Of course everyone feels a little nervous though even pros. Before you strike the ball do whatever you think is best. Some prefer to look at a side and place it in another side. Some don't look at any side and just look straight at the middle. You need to figure out what works best for you. When you get older and the goalies can actually block pks then sometime you need to get a little tricky. You don't have to but some people prefer tricks. Here are some.

While running to kick it delay and the opposite way that it looked like you where going.

If you are at a high level the goalie has no time to see where the ball is going because it goes so fast. So they guess where to dive. Sometimes kicking it right up the middle will give you an easy goal.

Only use tricks if you have practice them a lot and you are sure you can do them well.

Headers

If you are trying to score head it down.

If you are trying to clear it out head it up and far.

Make sure you use your for-head to head it.

When you are heading it lean back and move your body forward with strength to get the most power.

For a flick on header move you head up and back. For a flick on header you use the top of your head preferable the back of the top of your head.

Diving Headers

Dive and head the ball.

Make sure you catch yourself with your hands.
